Finance Coordinator

Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) is a national Indigenous, non-partisan association. Our mission is to promote, strengthen and enhance a prosperous Indigenous economy through the fostering of business relationships, opportunities, and awareness.

The primary role of the Finance Coordinator will support the Director, Finance, and the Finance Department. This opportunity allows you to work in a non-profit environment where financial resources keep our finance team very busy. Each member collaborates with several different teams with their budgets and status updates.

Job Requirements:

  • Experienced in Sage Intact accounting system (optional as training will be provided).
  • Experienced in other accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage environment, etc.
  • Know how to use Microsoft applications like Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Outlook (Email).
  • Experienced in composition and inputting journal entries in the general ledger.
  • Full cycle Accounts Payable (AP), including data entry of invoices into Sage Intact accounting system, processing EFT, and issuing cheques.
  • Full cycle Accounts Receivable (AR): preparing invoices, recording of cheque payments receive, preparation of cheques for deposit, and manage AR aging.
  • Communicate with customers and vendors when necessary.
  • General ledger accounts balancing.
  • Bank reconciliation: reconciling bank statements with the general ledger cash account.
  • Fixed Assets – Inventory, recording and monthly depreciation.
  • Act as point of contact between internal/departments and external members.
  • Filing, scanning and accounting/finance administrative duties.
  • Other duties as required.

 Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in finance, business, communications, or related fields preferred.
  • 2-3 years firsthand experience an asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical, operational and computer skills.
  • Analysis skills are required for this role.
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Manage multiple tasks at one time.
  • Knowledge of Accounting principles.
  • Highly motivated team player with positive interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Good judgement, discretion, and tact.

Considered an Asset:

  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultures.
  • Established connections within the Indigenous business community and non-profit are an asset.
  • Bilingual English and French would be an asset.
