2017 THUNDER BAY TFAB Networking Event

CCAB is excited to announce the TFAB program’s 6th Aboriginal Business Networking Event featuring a special keynote address by Glenn Nolan, Vice President Government Affairs, Noront on the subject of “Straddling Two Worlds: building a successful business while maintaining connections to your culture and traditions.”

This event provides great networking opportunities for community individuals and business leaders. Attendees will have the opportunity to network, build valuable relationships and share best practices. The TFAB Networking Event is scheduled ahead of the Thunder Bay Hot Topic Series to ensure a diverse range of industries are represented. Each TFAB Networking event has provided attendees with high quality contacts and connections. CCAB is looking forward to hosting our first Thunder Bay TFAB Networking Event for our members and guests.

This event is open to all CCAB members, Aboriginal entrepreneurs and all other organisations and individuals committed to developing relationships with Aboriginal businesses and communities. Beverages and canapes are included with registration.

 

TFAB Aboriginal Business Networking Events are held in a variety of locations across Canada to:

  • Create a space for Aboriginal entrepreneurs to connect with likeminded peers
  • Provide Aboriginal entrepreneurs and businesses with the opportunity to grow their professional networks and profile through connecting with CCAB corporate members and other organisations committed to Aboriginal business
  • Provide opportunities to learn more about what it takes to succeed as an entrepreneur from special guest speakers.

Glenn Nolan, Vice President, Government Affairs, Noront

Glenn has had a varied career ranging from mining, tourism, community development, a politician and a land claim negotiator. Early in his career Glenn owned his own exploration/consulting company, then successfully operated a cultural wilderness tourism company with global cliental before returning back to the mining industry full time in 2009.

Today Glenn is Vice President, Government Affairs, for Noront Resources and a director of a publically traded diamond exploration company. He is a past president of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada, the first Aboriginal person to hold that position of the largest global mineral association. He continues to provide advice to mining companies, assists Indigenous groups in developing countries and works with governments in Latin America.

Glenn is a member of the Missanabie Cree First Nation and served as Chief from 2001 to 2010. He has served and continues to serve on many not-for-profit organizations in Canada and internationally, most recently the Canadian NGO, Canadian Executive Services Organization. In 2013 Glenn was recognized for his lifelong activism and volunteerism with the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee medal.
