The primary role of the Finance Coordinator will support the Director, Finance, and the Finance Department. This opportunity allows you to work in a non-profit environment where financial resources keep our finance team very busy. Each member works with several different teams with their budgets and status updates.
The coordinator will get hands-on experiences in the following areas of the Accounting/Finance Department:
- Training in using QuickBooks accounting system
- Compose and input journal entries in the general ledger
- Full cycle Accounts Payable, including data entry of invoices into QuickBooks accounting system, process, and issue cheque
- Full cycle Accounts Receivable: invoicing, recording of cheques receive, preparation of cheques for deposit, and AR aging
- General ledger account balancing
- Bank reconciliation and credit card reconciliation
- Inventory, recording and depreciation of fixed assets
- Filing, scanning and other administrative duties as required
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in finance, business, communications, or related fields preferred
- 1-2 years hands on experience an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Analytical, operational and computer skills
- Analysis skills are required for this role
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Manage multiple tasks at one time
- Knowledge of Accounting principles
- Highly motivated team player with positive interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
- Good judgement, discretion, tact
Considered an Asset:
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultures
- Established connections within the Aboriginal business community and non-profit are an asset
- Bilingual English and French would be an asset
