AFOA Canada was founded as a not-for-profit association in 1999 to support Indigenous people in managing and governing their communities and organizations through a focus on enhancing management, finance and governance practices and skills.
After twenty years in operation, AFOA Canada has positioned itself as the top and trusted resource for Indigenous management, finance and governance in Canada. This has been done by focusing on several key issues; adding value to our membership, sharing the stories of the incredible work being done in our Indigenous communities, and creating an environment where those who lead in their fields can continue to innovate and create change.
AFOA Canada is the only organization in Canada that focuses on the capacity development and day-to-day needs of Indigenous professionals who are working in all areas of management, finance, band administration, leadership, and program management.
