Associate, Business Development

SALARY $46,000 to $61,000

Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) is a national Indigenous, non-partisan association. We aim to promote, strengthen, and enhance a prosperous Indigenous economy by fostering business relationships, opportunities, and awareness. The Associate, Business Development, supports the Director of Sponsorship & Corporate Partnerships with proposal writing, partnership agreements, and contracts. The role supports the development of partnerships, sales, creation of prospect lists, and administrative work.

The Business Development Associate is responsible for:

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Contributes to Report/Proposal Writing and Sponsorship/Prospect lists.
  • Contact potential and CCAB Members through email/meetings as assigned.
  • Identify Member needs and suggest appropriate products/services through CCAB Membership benefits.
  • Build long-term trusting relationships with new and existing CCAB Members.
  • Proactively seeks new business, partnerships, and sponsorship opportunities in the marketplace.
  • Set up meetings or calls between potential Members as assigned.
  • Reports directly to the Director during weekly meetings.

Qualifications: 

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • 2-3 years of Fundraising/Sponsorship and/or Sales Experience
  • Minimum two years experience in writing grant proposals
  • Business background is preferred
  • Administrative background on systems for meeting setup and support
  • A post-secondary diploma/degree in office administration, business, communications, or related fields is preferred
  • Highly motivated team player with positive interpersonal skills and ability to build positive business relationships with potential and CCAB Members
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Familiarity with Microsoft WordPress and CRM Database systems (i.e., MPower Technologies) will be considered an asset
  • Previous knowledge or experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and sales database systems
  • Good judgment, discretion, tact, and the ability to collaborate easily with senior leaders within the charitable, government, or business sectors.

Position Type: This is a full-time position. The location is anywhere in Canada, with hours from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
