As you know, the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has sparked a domino reaction of event cancellations and delays around the world. Due to the World Health Organization’s announcement declaring COVID-19 a pandemic, and subsequently the province of Alberta declaring all gatherings larger than 250 people be cancelled until further notice, both CCAB and Forward Summit have decided to postpone the events held on April 28th & 29th in Calgary. We are working diligently to explore options, including other dates in 2020, that will allow us to celebrate the outstanding accomplishments of Aboriginal business in Canada and continue the important conversations around reconciliation and Indigenous prosperity.
Conference passes and/or Gala Award Dinner tickets will be carried forward to the new dates once finalized. If there’s a conflict with the new dates, contact Forward Summit to help resolve or be issued a credit. It is advisable to delay booking travel and accommodation arrangements until future communications advise of new dates.
The decision to postpone was necessary in recognition of efforts across Canada and beyond to help ensure everyone’s health and safety. We also hope that everyone can be sensitive to each other in this situation and make accommodations where needed. The risk of the outbreak can be even greater to some Indigenous communities where there is a disadvantage with respect to buying supplies, transportation, overcrowded homes, or access to clean water.
We have every confidence, in this time of uncertainty, that we can all pull together the kindness, concern and vigilant care needed for the common good of all. Stay safe and an update will be provided as soon as possible.
