National Perspectives on Indigenous Prosperity: AEDCs

National Perspectives on Indigenous Economic Prosperity: Aboriginal Economic Development Corporation Capacity

Published: February 2020

In 2018, the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) conducted in-person interviews with senior executives of Aboriginal Economic Development Corporations (AEDCs) and community leaders (Chief and Council, Economic Development Officers and community administrators) in over 100 Indigenous communities across Canada. This is the most comprehensive national research completed to date on reserve and with urban Indigenous economies. The purpose of this study is to gain a clearer picture of Indigenous economies across Canada, and more specifically, to determine the social and economic impact of AEDCs on community prosperity.

Aboriginal Economic Development Corporation Capacity is the first report to be released in the National Perspectives on Indigenous Prosperity series. This report delves into the structure, sophistication, and procurement and investment readiness of AEDCs.
