About Lightning Spark Books

Hello, my name is Pamela Devonshire and I am a Kanien’kehá ka author and storyteller and a member of Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte. Inspired by a passion for history and culture, I started Lightning Spark Books to share the stories of significant Indigenous people and places. My speciality is telling unique historical and contemporary stories of the Haudenosaunee peoples. I feel inspired to create cultural awareness tools and programs aimed at sharing historical truths of the first peoples of southern Ontario. My audience is primary junior kindergarten and elementary school age children. In addition, my audience is groups interested in Indigenous perspectives of Truth and Reconciliation in Canada. My mission is to introduce our traditional lore and culture through stories to young people through stories and in book stores, schools and libraries for children and their families to discover the richness of Indigenous peoples and read together. In this day and age, it is even more important for us to celebrate our shared heritage, pass on our stories and provide education and inspiration.
