Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business announces EDC as new patron member

Toronto, ON – May 19, 2020 – Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business (CCAB) is pleased to announce Export Development Canada (EDC) as new patron member. EDC is a financially self-sufficient Crown corporation that provides insurance and financial services, bonding products, and small business solutions to Canadian exporters and investors and their international buyers.

“We are so pleased to be collaborating with CCAB, an organization with a successful track record of increasing opportunities for Indigenous peoples,” says EDC’s president and CEO Mairead Lavery, who earlier this year appointed the organization’s first national lead for Indigenous exporters. “With over 50,000 companies operating across all sectors of the Canadian economy, Indigenous entrepreneurs represent a dynamic and innovative business community. These business owners are a key factor in Canada’s economic success, and with CCAB as a partner, EDC is much better positioned to facilitate their success through international opportunities.”

CCAB Patrons represent the innovators that have made the highest commitment to bridging gaps between Aboriginal businesses, Aboriginal Economic Development Corporations, and corporate Canada.

“We are delighted to welcome EDC as a patron member,” says Tabatha Bull, CCAB’s president and CEO. “We know that export and all procurement opportunities are going to be a key part of our economic recovery. EDC’s leadership providing relief for businesses across Canada amid the COVID-19 pandemic has been crucial, and their expertise will continue to be crucial to our economic success in the months to come. We couldn’t be happier to have them as patrons.”
