Participation Levels

There are three different levels of PAR participation available for CCAB members who want to improve or confirm performance in Aboriginal relations and promote their success and commitment by using the PAR logo.

PAR Participant

All CCAB members can access the PAR program online to track their performance and identify opportunities for improvement in Aboriginal relations in four performance areas – employment, business development, community investment, and community engagement.  The program ensures reporting confidentiality.

PAR Committed

Participants at this level submit the report generated from online reporting to CCAB for high level feedback on their readiness for certification. Companies can participate at this level for one to a maximum of three years, progressing to the PAR Certified level which provides the highest level of assurance to the Aboriginal community.

PAR Certified

This level of participation offers companies the opportunity to provide the highest level of assurance to all of its stakeholders that it is invested in Aboriginal relations. At this level, qualified PAR verifiers review company reports and confirm performance and outcomes through company visits and interviews with Aboriginal stakeholders.  The verifier submits a report to a PAR Jury composed on Aboriginal business people who award companies with PAR standing at the bronze, silver, or gold level.

Certification Levels

PAR Bronze companies are distinguishable among thousands of Canadian businesses because they recognize the business case for working with Aboriginal businesses and communities. Their strategic planning recognizes the mutually-beneficial impact of business development with Aboriginal-owned businesses, the value that Aboriginal people bring to the workplace, and the potential of Aboriginal communities.  PAR Bronze companies are beginning a journey, developing the goals and actions plans that position them to work with the Aboriginal community.

PAR Silver companies have had their business case proved through their Aboriginal relations; business partnerships are in place; Aboriginal people are adding value at their workplace; and they are supporting sustainability through investment in communities and people. PAR Silver companies recognized early the value of working with Aboriginal communities and can point to outcomes that have made a difference.

PAR Gold companies demonstrate sustained leadership in Aboriginal relations and their commitment to working with Aboriginal businesses and communities has built the business case that other companies aspire to prove.  Their introduction of innovative programs and engagement of Aboriginal people have made an enduring impact on Aboriginal businesses and communities, and demonstrate best practice for those companies introducing Aboriginal relations to their business strategy or seeking to improve year over year.

The PAR jury reviews the verifier’s findings and designates company performance at the bronze, silver, or gold level. Certifying companies are recognized annually at the Vancouver PAR gala and can promote their accomplishments by using the assigned PAR logo according to guidelines that ensure the program’s credibility.
