Case for PAR

Community Case for PAR

PAR provides assurance to the Aboriginal community

The independent external verification and juried review of corporate performance in Aboriginal relations provides a high level of assurance that a certified company would be a good partner, a great place to work, and is committed to the prosperity of Aboriginal communities, businesses, and individuals.  The verification also includes interviews with Aboriginal stakeholders, ensuring that the voice of the Aboriginal community is considered in the jury’s deliberations and assignment of a PAR certification.

PAR drives a focus on sustainability in Aboriginal Relations

Certified companies recertify every three years by taking part in a full verification to ensure the sustainability of their Aboriginal relations; companies are encouraged to report online annually to maintain a focus on continual improvement.

Business Case for PAR

PAR provides a level of assurance to all stakeholders

The PAR certification program validates performance and confirms company commitment, success, and impact.  Participation in PAR ensures that Aboriginal relations is addressed as part of a company’s overall corporate social responsibility strategy and considered in annual planning and at the strategic level.

PAR differentiates your organization from its competitors.

Community recognition of the PAR logo is growing.  Within the past two years, Aboriginal political organizations – including the Chiefs of Ontario, Métis Nation of Ontario, and Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations – have recognized the value of PAR.  For those companies looking to partner with Aboriginal communities or tap into the growing Aboriginal market, PAR establishes a foundation for relationships and builds trust.

PAR is a strategic management tool

PAR can be a strategic framework for a company to manage its Aboriginal relations in the four performance areas of employment, business development, community investment and community engagement. The online framework allows a company to systematically track progress in performance indicators and identify areas of strengths and opportunities for improvement.
