PAR – Progressive Aboriginal Relations

The Progressive Aboriginal Relations program, or PAR, is a framework that enables a company to systematically measure its progress on developing progressive Aboriginal relations. The program requires companies to measure their performance in four areas – employment, business development, capacity building and community relations. If a company can demonstrate continual improvement in engaging and involving Aboriginal people in these four areas, they will be viewed as a company of choice for Aboriginal communities.

The companies that successfully complete the PAR process – including verification by an Aboriginal-owned consulting firm and confirmation by the PAR Jury – will receive a PAR level certification. These are:

Bronze, the company has developed goals and created action plans. They are at the early stages of Aboriginal Relations.

Silver, the company has implemented the action plans and is measuring results.

Gold, the company is considered a leader in Aboriginal Relations by introducing innovative programs and ways of doing things.
