Aboriginal Business Mentorship Program

CCAB’s Mentorship program provides Aboriginal business persons with a mentoring experience that guides and supports them as they identify and pursue their business goals. It also provides an opportunity for mentors to share their professional knowledge and exchange ideas and values, while providing a deep sense of personal growth.

With the generous support of Compass Group of Canada, and the Counselling Foundation of Canada, the business mentorship program helps Aboriginal business persons gain the knowledge, insight and expertise critical to taking their business to the next level.The Aboriginal Business Mentorship Program currently facilitates over 20 mentorship teams and Aboriginal entrepreneurs across Canada are eligible to participate.

Benefits to the Aboriginal Entrepreneur:

  1. Assists Aboriginal business persons in establishing contacts outside the Aboriginal community;
  2. Helps develop and improve buisness and management skills;
  3. Provides personal contact for objective business advice when needed, and assist in meeting ones business goals through direct coaching;
  4. Connects Aboriginal business persons with contacts outside of their existing network.

Benefits to the Mentor:

  1. Provides a personal approach to Aboriginal relations and development;
  2. Helps establish direct links to Aboriginal people and communities;
  3. Creates an opportunity to share ones professional knowledge and exchange community knowledge, while providing a deep sense of personal growth.

Mentorship support is provided through one-on-one or virtual communications between protégés and mentors.  Mentors may also help make introductions for protégés to assist them in establishing their own business network.

CCAB provides the initial introduction between matched participants, and orientation for both parties.  All subsequent meetings are coordinated by the mentors and protégés directly as required.  CCAB provides ongoing in-session support through skills development opportunities, non-financial resources and advice, and networking opportunities.
